Here are some of my brokers I use when trading.
Futures trading is tricky business, even for experienced traders, and so is shopping for a broker to use for futures and commodities trading. It’s not just about commissions and customer service there are more factors involved like execution etc...
Trading in futures requires using a brokerage that offers certain kinds of investing tools, research and data that are different from those in an investment platform. With Futures, your looking for the highest level of real-time data and quotes, an intuitive good platform, an abundance of charting and screening tools, technical indicators and a wealth of research — plus the ability to leverage your account properly. We expect all of this, and low costs and high-quality customer support.
In trading Futures now for almost 20 years, I can say a few stand out. Interactive Brokers is my preferred, in the past I recommended TD Ameritrade, however in the last few years their customer service has been lacking and their prices are still some of the highest in the industry. Interactive Brokers is a good broker for stocks and futures, I do not like their Forex platform, I prefer Fxprimus instead when Trading Forex and Futures , however both are excellent Brokers for commodities. Keep in mind unless you are outside the USA you can't use fxprimus for futures trading, however if you are in the USA and want a good Forex Broker who also offers CFD's then I recommend LQD They are a Forex Broker and Provide the ability to trade commodities in one account. Unlike Interactive Brokers or other USA futures brokers you can trade futures with a much smaller account and with higher leverage, this can mean higher win amount , however it can also mean a higher losing amount.
When trading Forex in the USA we are limited to brokers who comply with all the rules and regulations that the USA has put forth as of the 2012 Dodd Frank changes. We have seen many great retail platforms stop offering their services to Forex Trading customers in the USA based on those new rules. One in particular was Citifx, they were my preferred trading Forex broker until they stopped offering to US clients. If you live outside the USA my favorite broker is Fxprimus, I personally know some people who are on their board of advisers and they stand by their service and are a great broker. They offer uip to 2.5 Million Euros in insurance and their execution is second to none. I still use their platform for the CFDs since I love the smooth execution and like to use MT4.
